Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel

(boots Elizabeth and James, scarf H&M, leather jacket Mango, purse Moni Moni)
I spent the last few days in San Francisco & the bay area. Went up to a film festival to see an amazing documentary (that I'm about to tell you all about) and turned it into a mini vacation. One of my best friends Caroline (pictured above), her great grandmother is the famous late Diana Vreeland. The film, Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel is a documentary made by her family and is currently receiving great remarks from the festival circuit from Venice to Toronto. It will be coming out in theaters in March 2012.
I had the wonderful opportunity of going to see it with their whole family. It's incredible and beyond inspirational and I undoubtedly recommend that everyone must see it. With interviews from Manolo Blahnik, to Diane Von Furstenberg, to Oscar de la Renta, it's really a historical view on the world of fashion as we know it. Although it will probably make you feel like whatever hard work you are doing, just isn't enough lol. There's also a book just released by the same name, so until you can get to see the film definitely pick up the book.
It was a fun little getaway. We rented a bright red convertible Mustang which was so much fun and cruised the city. I really love San Francisco. The weather was a nice change from LA... actually got to wear scarfs and leather jackets for a good purpose. Although I didn't fair to well with the rain as you can probably see above lol. I picked up this scarf/thing/notreallysurewhatitis at H&M a few months ago and have been waiting to wear it. It took me a good 15 minutes to figure out what exactly to do with it but I got it figured out and really love it.

No one likes a straight road but the man who pays for it, or who, when he travels, is brute enough to wish to get to his journey's end.
While I meditate on the gulf towards which I travelled, and reflect on my youthful disobedience, for these things I weep, mine eye runneth down with water.
It was such ecstacy to dream, and dream - till you got a bite.
A scorpion bite. Then the first duty was to get up out of the grass and kill the scorpion; and the next to bathe the bitten place with alcohol or brandy; and the next to resolve to keep out of the grass in the future. Then came an adjournment to the bedchamber and the pastime of writing up the day's journal with one hand and the destruction of mosquitoes with the other - a whole community of them at a slap. Then, observing an enemy approaching - a hairy tarantula on stilts - why not set the spittoon on him? It is done, and the projecting ends of his paws give a luminous idea of the magnitude of his reach. Then to bed and become a promenade for a centipede with forty-two legs on a side and every foot hot enough to burn a whole through a raw-hide. More soaking with alcohol, and a resolution to examine the bed before entering it, in future. Then wait, and suffer, till all the mosquitoes in the neighborhood have crawled in under the bar, then slip out quickly, shut them in and sleep peacefully on the floor till morning. Meantime, it is comforting to curse the tropics in occasional wakeful intervals.
